Time Rush guide

How to Play a 9x9 Block Puzzle in 90 Seconds

Time Rush rewards fast, stable decisions. The goal is not to place every piece instantly; it is to avoid the hesitation and board damage that turn the final seconds into a dead end.

Scan the whole set before the first move

Use a brief first look to identify the largest or least flexible piece. Give that shape a safe position, then use the smaller pieces to complete rows, columns, or 3x3 zones. This is faster than discovering too late that the final shape has nowhere to go.

Prefer obvious multi-clears

A move that completes a row and a 3x3 zone at the same time saves both board space and decision time. Do not spend several seconds searching for a perfect combo, but take a clear multi-line opportunity when it is immediately visible.

Keep one clean landing area

Preserve a reasonably open region for awkward pieces. If every zone contains scattered single cells, each new set takes longer to evaluate. A clean area reduces visual search and protects the final part of the run.

Last 15 seconds

Stop building long-term patterns. Favor safe clears, use a charged Energy Surge tool when it immediately restores placements, and avoid spending the remaining clock on a complicated setup.

Use tools to save time, not only space

Bomb is useful when one dense 3x3 region creates visual clutter. Reshuffle helps when the current set demands too much analysis. Lightning can turn a blocked line into an obvious sequence of placements. Read the full Energy Surge tool guide for the differences.

Practice without the timer first

If rows, columns, and 3x3 zones are not yet automatic, learn the basic 9x9 rules and board-planning method in Classic mode. Speed comes from recognizing useful shapes, not from dragging faster.
